Town planing study "Zbrojovka"

Bc.Tomková Martina. Územní studie „Zbrojovka“. Brno, FAST 2012. The diploma thesis deals with the revitalization of the industrial area of the former Zbrojovka Brno Company. The area is close to the historical centre of Brno. The principal idea of the diploma thesis was to introduce new activities in the area while making use of the current area potential as well as to restore the economic balance and keep the genius loci of the area. The implementation of this idea has required building conversions in the area and the development of a new project the main idea of which is the university campus. The new project of the area benefits from the layout of buildings, especially the layout of large-capacity halls, the closeness of the city centre and the possibility of the railway connection. The whole conception is in compliance with the strategic development plan of Brno which comprises the issues of research, development, innovation and education. On campus there is an independent office building with integrated railway station, multimedia and sport centre as well as a municipal park. The area is open to and offers a wide range of services to general public. The diploma thesis includes the model of the area design.

The appropriate way of using brownfields in Brno

This thesis focuses on the issues of regeneration brownfields. The work is devided into five chapters. Theory, definition and clasification of brownfields is the subject of the first chapter. The second chapter discusses the negative consequences associated with the occurrence of brownfields. The third chapter looks at general approaches to solving this issue. The fourth chapter pays attention to situation of brownfields in Brno. The last chapter focuses on the analysis and possible solutions to specific brownfield site in the city of Brno.

ZBROJOVKA FACTORY BRNO

This diploma project deals with a post-industrial factory area Zbrojovka Brno. It proposes a strategy for its revitalisation and development. On contrary to official studies of one time reconstruction and creation of a residential site, the proposal brings an idea of step by step transformation into a multifunctional city quarter with preservation and new use of original industrial architecture. The strategy has four main phases, which are characterised by addition of functions, metamorphoses of public space and opening of the area and connecting it to neighbourhoods. After the four phases, the area should become a healthy and sustainable city with a compact structure with mixed functions, high quality public spaces linked with greenery, sustainable system of transportation and energetic concept and with use of community sharing.

The Thesis with title " Armament production for Whermacht and the Army of Aliance in Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (1939 - 1945) is interested in detailed description of armament production within quality and quantity armoured of vehicles and infantry weapons made in war years 1939 - 1945 in Czech munition factories. Foreword part deals with Czech production efore Munich agrément,suitable conditions for militarization and empowerment German Army nor the use in industry either for strategy location. In following chapters the work describes main munition factories (Škoda Plzeň - Skoda Werke, ČKD Praha - BMM, Munition faktory Brno)and due to occupation our country,Czechoslovakia,maximal use of technical and human potenciál in Protectorate.The same it documents sale of spare weapons (cannons and munition) and presents German production,too. In other chapters it directs to confrontal of weapons,thein improvement,following development,army tanks, (mainly tank ŠKODA vz. 35, tank ŠKODA vz. 35,light tank LT vz. 38 and later fighter tank and offensive cannons from útočná ČKD Prague , Marder III, Hetzer, Grille), infantry weapons made in Brnopěchotní (Carabine Mauser K98 and gunmachine MG34, MG42, MG131). Analysis of the arms export from Skoda Works and Zbrojovka Brno to the Little Entente countries in the 30th years of the 20th century

The history of Czechoslovakia and his position played a key role in developement of weapon industry in the interwar period. Because of the instability in this region, which was formed after First word War, the weapon industry started to develop much faster. At the early 1930s the weapon industry was already so robust, that the consequences of economic depression didn't slow it down as much as they slowed down the other industry branches. At 1930s was weapon industry influenced by condition of economy of theirs business partnes from Little Entente and by politic situation in neighboring countries. Business plans of companies producing weapons and weapon material were lagrely influenced by czechoslovak gowernment. Economic policy was used by czechoslovak gowernment like foreign policy. This fact largely influenced the behavior of weapon-producing companies in their trade relation with business partners in Little Entente.

Boom in the weapon production in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s

The position and history of the Czechoslovak Republic played a key role in its decision to focus on the weapon industry during the interwar period. Given the unstable situation in the newly emerged countries in the Central European region and with respect to the tradition of a heavy-weapon production, Czechoslovakia began to produce arms on a much larger scale. The increasing armament in 1930s was not even stopped by the Great Depression. Furthermore, weapon production helped the country to report higher exports and boosted the otherwise stagnating economy. The boom in the weapon production came during 1934-1938. Due to the quality of Czechoslovak arms and the high demand for them abroad, the Czechoslovak total export showed at least a slight increasing trend during this period. Nevertheless, large public expenditures in this sector had to be covered by augmenting public debt and increased tax rates.
